 COMMUNITY

Doug & Sally are excited to greet you at the door of the Trail Head Lodge (THL) with Bishop and Bliss (the Lodge Labs) closely behind.  Doug closed a multi-year search for the right place to secure a mountain-based retreat in 2020 with the help of Sally's critical eye for value and family-oriented living.  As we continue to refine the amenities, decor and hospitality offerings of the Lodge we hope you stay, return and grow with us.

Our Vision of the THL is not one of a vacation house rental.  It is family and hiker oriented retreat which is managed and presented by us on-site to assist you in maximizing the natural remoteness, beauty and access to the forestry that surrounds Wolf Laurel and encompassing Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests.

We are advocates of every aspect of Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Thru-hiking, and NC/TN outdoors expedition adventure.  Doug is a retired US Army Special Forces Officer with extensive field experience, orienteering, survival, and fieldcraft skills.  We maintain the lodge in a continuous mindset of safety, protection and preparedness to assist and ensure all that venture from our Trail Head our prepared to meet the challenges of a true wilderness and to support our families and hikers in having a well-prepared experience.

Help us make you a believer that the "Adventure begins at the TRAIL HEAD LODGE".

The Wolf Laurel Community is located on the Bald Mountain Ridgeline in the Ebbs Chapel Fire District.  It is a purposely austere sylva condition situated in the visibility ridgelines of the TN/NC border.  As such, our gated residential paradise provides, serenity, dark-sky experiences, and unbroken visual landscapes.  We are an adventure-based community--our Lodge is situated to attend activities within 60 mins that include, but are not limited to:  rapid running on the Nolichuky River, Natural Swimming, Ziplining, Tube Floats in the French-Broad River, Side-Road Fresh Produce, Protein and Honey Hunts, Local Tennis, Pickleball, swimming (pool), horseback riding, and trout pond fishing.  We pride ourselves in the rustic appointment of Wolf Laurel, its appreciation of the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Landscape, and our ability at the Trail Head Lodge to contribute to this potion that is: mountain magic.
